Pipeline Inspection Services

PPIC services allow pipeline operators to identify areas of potential concern and make confident infrastructure rehabilitation decisions. By selectively rehabilitating only the individual pipe lengths where structure or mechanical integrity has been compromised, operators can realize significant savings by eliminating the unnecessary replacement of large lengths of transmission mains. This optimizes both the operating life of the asset and budget allocation for infrastructure projects.

The Pressure Pipe Inspection Company specializes in condition assessment of pressurized, large diameter (12” and greater) pipelines. We lead the industry in RFTC inspection of Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP) lines and in-line leak detection with our Sahara system.

PPIC experience is the difference:

  • Over 6,000 miles of large diameter pipeline inspected.
  • Remote Field Transformer Coupling (RFTC) inspections of PCCP lines on average have shown an active distress of only 4%.
  • Sahara® technology has identified the equivalent of 100 million gallons per day of water leaks. The sensor is so precise that it can detect leaks as small as 0.004 gallons per minute.
  • The most experienced field and data interpretation teams mean that your results are accurate and delivered on time.
  • The greatest database of condition assessment results for large diameter pipelines means that PPIC has seen and has a solid understanding of virtually any signal result within a pipeline.

PPIC services are trusted for:

  • Prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) condition assessment
  • Metallic pipe condition assessment
  • Plastic and PVC pipe condition assessment
  • Leak detection
  • New pipeline commissioning
  • Pipeline locating and mapping

Remote Field Transformer Coupling (RFTC)

This technology suite accurately establishes the baseline condition of Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP). The system detects and quantifies the number of breaks in the prestressing wire that reinforces the concrete pipe.

PipeDiver™

Versatile and reliable, the PipeDiver™ system has been specifically designed for use in prestressed concrete cyclinder pipe (PCCP) lines that are live or can't be taken out of service due to a lack of redundancy or operational constraints.

Sahara® Pipeline Inspections

The Sahara® system is a non-destructive, in-line, condition assessment tool that can detect leaks in a live pipeline. Reduce water loss by pinpointing leak locations.

Acoustic Emissions Testing (AET)

AET establishes the level of active distress in individual prestressed concrete cyclinder pipes (PCCP). Make informed decisions on when and how to conduct further condition assessment programs.

Remote Transient Pressure Monitoring (RTPM)

RTPM records the variation of pressures within a pipeline caused by sudden changes in velocity of the liquid within the pipeline. RTPM helps to better manage a pipeline system and minimize the transient pressures that occur with operating valves, uncontrolled pump start stops and air valve slams.

Pipeline GIS Software

Computer based management tools that provides water supply system managers with the tools they need to make informed asset management decisions.
