5. What can I do with this information?
The results of a RFTC inspection give water supply system operators the information they need to:

  • Choose between repairing, replacing or monitoring individual pipes within their PCP infrastructure;
  • Optimize their Operation and Maintenance budgets;
  • Accurately forecast their Capital Improvement budgets; and
  • Extend the safe and economic operation of their pipelines.

6. What is RFTC capable of?
PPIC's RFTC system can:

  • detect broken prestressing wires in any size PCP;
  • find and quantify the number of breaks along the length and anywhere around the circumference of PCP pipe;
  • quantify wire breaks in ECP, LCP and NCP; and
  • spot wire breaks in pipes with or without shorting straps and in pipes with or without bonding straps.

7. How accurate is an RFTC inspection?
The sensitivity and accuracy with which the RFTC pipeline evaluation system can quantify the number of wire breaks in PCP is dependant upon both the amount of information that the client can supply us with concerning the pipes to be inspected and the conditions inside the pipeline during the inspection.

As the RFTC system is sensitive to all of the electromagnetic properties of a pipe, including cylinder thickness, cylinder composition, wire pitch, diameter and wraps, if the client can supply PPIC with detailed and accurate information, PPIC's analysts will be able to generate results with a higher degree of confidence. In addition, if the pipeline is free of debris and suitably dewatered, the signal captured by the RFTC data acquisition system will produce higher quality results.

8. How often should we inspect our pipe using RFTC?
Inspection schedules depend on the present condition of your infrastructure. However, as the world leader in the evaluation of PCP, PPIC is committed to working with its clients to set the standards for pipeline inspection and monitoring.

9. How much does an RFTC inspection cost?
Price is dependant upon several factors, and every project is different. For a free estimate, please contact us at info@ppic.com or call toll free: 1-877-ASK-PPIC (275-7742).

10. Who is licensed to use RFTC?
PPIC holds an exclusive international license on the applicable patents.

11. Do you do work outside of North America?
Yes. PPIC has done extensive work in North Africa and continues to expand internationally.
