Acoustic Emission Testing takes advantage of the sharp sound that PCCP emits when it breaks or slips to identify areas of active distress within your pipeline. Our sensitive, patented autonomous hydrophone units pre-amplify this signal and transfer it to nearby computers where it is recorded and screened against a series of pre-established criteria.

AET identifies and localizes break activity of the prestressing wire that reinforces each pipe by continuously monitoring a pipeline while it remains in operation.

As a result, by using AET to identify pipes in active distress, operators can avoid the cost of complete pipeline replacement and cost-effectively re-establish pipeline integrity – thereby extending the life of their pipeline.
