Job Title: Field Technician
Position: Full Time, Permanent
Location: 2 locations: Mississauga, ON and Dallas, TX with extensive travel (North America and International)
Relevant Years Experience: 3 years
Educational Requirements: An Engineering degree or a technical diploma (electronics, electrical or mechanical) with equivalent construction experience or experience in the water/wastewater utilities sector. Mechanical is the preferred education/experience stream.
Compensation: Negotiable, based on experience

Opportunity Description
Responsible for representing PPIC to our clients during inspections, operating PPIC's inspection technologies and ensuring all on site portions of the project are completed according to PPIC's rigorous standards of quality, including staff performance and safety. The successful candidate will also work with PPIC's tool support and R&D departments to ensure optimum tool performance (current and future). The position is hands-on and involves extensive physical activity.
Responsibilities Include:
- Inspecting and maintaining various pipelines including Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, PCV and PCP.
- Operating wheeled inspection equipment within enclosed spaces and hooking up insertions into live pipelines.
- Assembling, operating and dismantling PPIC proprietary inspection tools.
- Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems/components.
- Operating company inspection vehicles up to 10,000lbs on trips as long as three days.
- Writing inspection reports explaining observations and compiling safety forms using MS Word and Excel.
- Collecting GPS point data on Using Trimble GPS hand held units.
Working Conditions
Due to the security requirements of our clients and health and safety policies, all PPIC employees must pass random drug and background checks. Successful candidates cannot have any restrictions on their driver’s license that prevent them from driving and being insurable on PPIC vehicles. A credit check will also be performed prior to hire to ensure successful candidates will qualify for a company credit card with appropriate spending limits.
Successful candidates will have to pass a Confined Space Safety course before working on site.
Qualifications:
- A Mechanical Engineering degree, mechanical engineering experience with an Electrical or Civil Engineering degree, or a technical diploma with equivalent construction experience or experience in the water/wastewater utilities sector.
- Minimum 3 years experience involving hands-on mechanical work, research or development of mechanical systems.
- Willingness to travel extensively internationally with ability to work in North America possessing a valid US or Canadian passport or residency.
- Experience with electronics, hydraulics and signal processing experience.
- Desire to work in a small company and perform a wide variety of tasks.
- Ability to speak Spanish an asset.
